The As Pontes Municipal Department of Sports and Youth arranges a yearly Sports Awards Ceremony event to pay homage to all the local sports people and athletes.

This annual As Pontes Town Hall event rewards the commitment, effort, hope and ambition put into fulfilling a dream and working together as a team.

It was first held in 2014 in As Pontes as the first ever Ironman Triathlon race in Galicia. It consists of 3 segments: 3.8 (2.4 miles) km swimming, 180 km (112.5 miles) road cycling and a 42.2 km (26.4 miles) marathon run.

This competition is open to participants from all countries, whether they have got an official triathlon licence or not, as long as they are 18 years or older. There are three different categories: female, male as well as one for clubs.
